Tottenham Close to Deal for Atlanta defender Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero is extensively seen as one of the outstanding center-backs in the Italian game. In fact, in the last season, none of the defenders in Serie A performed better than the Argentine, with Romero carrying his club form into Copa America.
After sealing the loan deal for
Atlanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, Tottenham’s director of football Fabio
Paratici started working hard to buy Romero for their Club, who also became the
point of attraction for Manchester United this summer. Romero is the player
with unmatched caliber, which is expected to increase at Tottenham.
However, the new manager, Nuno
Espirito Santo, might implement his trademark 3-5-2 shape on Spurs and make
this formation work; Tottenham Hotspur reportedly agreed to a fee of around 43
million Euros. The transfer is expected to complete in a few days from Atalanta
to the Premier League club. It is essential for Romero to pick a pass as
technically the 3-5-2 system relies on the defenders playing from the back.
The final deal would be a
transformational singing for North London Club as it can transform the backline
of Spurs ahead of one of the most crucial seasons for the Club. The club made
the calculations and concluded that the signing of Romero would help in saving
money and improving the performance of the club.
The North London Club is currently
suffering from the poor performance of their two main center-backs, Eric Dier
and Davinson Sanchez. Additionally, the club is missing their previous center
back, Toby Alderweireld which has been already sold to the Qatari club
Al-Duhail. These two reasons are why the club to sign Cristian as soon as
possible.
As per the statistics, Romero
ranks better than the current defensive options of Tottenham. He won more
aerial duels per 90 minutes last season than any of the Spur players. Also,
more interceptions per 90 minutes were scored by Romero than any new teammates.
He also boasted for a pass accuracy rate of 86%, which is similar to the
accuracy of Tottenham’s best defensive passer, Joe Rodon. Moreover, he is
physically sound for getting successful in Premier League.
This season has become the best
for betting enthusiasts as most of the clubs are reshuffling and further buying
or selling new players. After the expected move of Raphaël Varane to Manchester
United, Arsenal is continuously working to buy Ben White from Brighton.
Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur has already shortlisted Cristian Romero, and
Liverpool closed an agreement with Ibrahima Konaté.
