Who Could Replace Paul Pogba at Manchester United?

Paul Pogba has refused to sign a new contract as he enters the final few months of his contract at Manchester United. Especially with no new permanent manager in sight, Pogba is allegedly unhappy with the current situation at Old Trafford. Aurelien Tchouameni (AS Monaco)

Manchester United has also identified midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba. Tchouameni is valued at “a fee between €50 million and €60 million" by AS Monaco, so it will not be cheap for United.

Tchouameni ranks especially well defensively. He recovers the ball impressively, presses it exceptionally, and defends well in the air. Going forward, he is not as formidable, but he still ranks as average or better in the key attacking elements of the game.

 

Declan Rice (West Ham)

Manchester United are big fans of West Ham and England midfielder Rice and would love to sign him this summer to fill a hole in defensive midfield. However, at only 22 and with a great passing range, there's no reason why Rice couldn't develop into a player that does more than simply play the holding role.

While he may not possess the flair and guile of Pogba, Rice certainly has the potential to become much more effective at the opposite end of the pitch. With three years remaining on his contract, the Hammers will not let him go on the cheap this summer but any funds raised from Pogba's sale could go towards his replacement.

 

Frank Kessié (AC Milan)

AC Milan’s Franck Kessie is regarded by some fans as the ideal player to replace Pogba at Old Trafford. He has established himself as a top-class box-to-box midfielder and he is confident carrying the ball from midfield to attack whilst making late runs into the final third.

Kessie has previously expressed his desires to play in the Premier League and for the Red Devils, the club he has reportedly been fond of for quite some time.
