Can Arsenal Turn their 2021/22 Premier League Season Around?

Arsenal had a very poor start to the season as they lost their opening three games. Gunners lost 2-0 to Brentford on an opening day, while they lost 2-0 again to the European champions, Chelsea last week. This weekend Arsenal lost 5-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad after going down to ten men.

Mikel Arteta admitted himself turning Arsenal’s fortunes around will “take some time” and urged supporters to get behind the team. The team sits last in the table (20th) without a single score and conceding 9 goals. Meanwhile, their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur sit at the top of the league on 9 points, with 3 wins in 3 matches.

Arsenal also failed to qualify for any European competition after the finish in the 8th last season. Some fans theorized that since the club doesn’t have any European matches this season, they could improve the league position from last season. However, the gunners have had a poor start to the season, seeing three defeats in the opening three matches for the first time in their 134-year-old history.

It was obvious that Arsenal’s start to the season was going to be difficult, with a trip to newly-promoted Brentford on the opening night followed by back-to-back matches against last season’s Champions League finalists, Chelsea and Manchester City. But nobody would have expected things to be this bad after the opening three games.

It will be difficult for Arsenal to turn things around. But their next 2 matches are critical as they face newly-promoted Norwich and Burney who barely survived relegation last season. Then they face Leicester City at the end of the season. If Arsenal can obtain at least 6 points from these 3 games, it could be crucial in turning Arsenal’s hopes for a better season.
